  • Brain Tumors and Meningiomas: A Webinar with Dr. Dong Kim

View a video recording of the webinar by clicking here.

Every day, about 50 adults are diagnosed with a primarybrain tumor in the United States and many more are diagnosed with acancer that has spread to the brain from someplace else in the body. Symptoms of brain tumors include progressive headaches, nausea, speech difficulties vision problems, confusion, weakness or numbness and seizures.

Meningiomas are brain tumors that develop in the thin membranes — or meninges — that cover the brain and spinal cord. They account for more than 25 percent of primary brain tumors. The vast majority of meningioma tumors (90%) are categorized as benign tumors, with the remaining 10% being atypical or malignant.

Join Dr. Dong Kim, chief of neurosurgery at the Mischer Neuroscience Institute, as he guides you through an online presentation about treating brain tumors, including a focus on meningioma tumors. Dr. Kim discusses how neurosurgeons use the Leksell Gamma Knife® to treat tumors, a treatment option that does not require incisions to the head.
